A Chinese crested tern returns to the nest after a successful hunt at sea. The adult will feed the fish to its young, not its mate, as that's where these busy parents must devote the most energy. Competition for fish is fierce, and adults must prioritize delivery of food to young when there are snapping beaks of compete parents around. Adult will feed themselves while they are out at sea, while the stay-at-home parent will spend its time keeping the chick warm and protected. (PS - I really hope you use this photo)
