The Lassen wolf pack, pups now the size of young adults, frequently roam meadows used by cattle. At times cattle and wolves share the meadow with barely a sign of acknowledgment. On this particular morning the wolves made their way through the valley sniffing and scavenging at carcasses and other interesting smells along the way. The thing that startled the wolves the most was the sound of gunshots in the distance. The cattle seemed more interested in the photographer, than the wolves.
