Wolf specialist Kent Laudon and his sidekick, Sammie sit together at the edge of what he calls pup meadow. When the day is done, he likes to sit and wait for the wolves to appear. A couple weeks earlier, he had spotted the wolf pack and their young pups playing in the field. Sightings are rare, and more often than not, the only sign that they are around is the sound of their howls as the sun sets. When he talks about what is important about this work, he talks about the data and helping the ranchers, then pauses and says, "There's just all the wonderment stuff that comes with it." The wolves have sinced moved from this area.
