Aeiral image of the burned Moses Coulee and Jameson Lake release site. In September of 2020, the fire was one of the largest megafires ever recorded in Washington State history, burning more than 189,000 acres. The fire, human-caused and still under investigation, devastated the pygmy rabbits and the conservation team. Before the burn, biologist Jon Gallie described this area as being like Eden for pygmy rabbits.
