mheim_timelapse_2
A timelapse camera placed within the Astoria bridge colony captured images of a single family from egg-laying to fledge. Every 5-minutes, the camera recorded an image of a nest from sunrise to sunset (more than 12,000 images over 2 months). Through record heat domes, storms, and turf wars, the camera reveals how one cormorant family persists in raising their young, in this case three healthy chicks. The images themselves will provide data to biologists on the phenology (nesting cycle) of a cormorant colony.
