Cormie, a Double-crested Cormorant that lives at the Wildlife Center of the North Coast in Astoria, Ore., sports the double crests from which her species gets its name. White crests are unique to the subspecies of Double-crested Cormorants that live in the Pacific Northwest and only appear during the breeding season. Double-crested Cormorants in other regions of North America have black crests.
